REVOLVING DOORS is placed in a beautiful garden in the heart of the Tuscan countryside for which it has been designed. This large permanent installation is made up of five monolithic slabs, or rinds (bucce as they are technically called) of Bardiglio marble, excavated from an ancient marble quarry situated not far from Carrara. Each one of them has been positioned vertically (without any additional processing) mirroring the shape of a five-pointed star. Each marble slab has a mirror on one side, shaped following the natural outline of the marble itself. The mirror faces of the monoliths are placed in succession so that each mirror reflects the preceding monolith, as in a closed circuit of subsequent mirroring. However, the circuit is closed only from a geometric and abstract point of view. In the mirrors, in addition to the previous monolith, the whole surrounding park is reflected, made of cypresses, meadows and olive trees. The monoliths extracted from the quarries contain millions of natural agents that have shaped the marble and, at the same time, take on the surrounding landscape making them multipliers of the natural elements they reflect.
